City Hall veteran and London Assembly Member Cllr. Keith Prince A.M. is set to be named as Conservative London Mayoral candidate Samuel Kasumu’s official running mate. Keith previously worked with Boris Johnson in the Mayor’s office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as a Non-Executive Advisor.
In 2016 Keith was elected as a London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, having previously served on both Havering and Redbridge Councils. He is a former parliamentary candidate for Barking, and in 2009 became the Leader of Redbridge Council. Prince remained as Leader until 2014 and continued on the Council for a further four years until he stood down in 2018.
In 2021, Prince was re-elected as a London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge with an increased majority from just over 1,400 votes to over 15,000. In 2022, after a break from local government, Prince was re-elected as a Councillor in the London Borough of Havering for the Squirrels Heath Ward.
Keith Prince was selected by Kasumu as a running mate following internal modelling which has shown that the East of London will be vital if the Conservatives are to be successful in next year’s mayoral election. Part of Kasumu’s bid for the Tory nomination is that he has the team in place to hit the ground running. Prince is set to take on the role of Constitutional Deputy Mayor if Samuel Kasumu is elected in May 2024.
